Silverwater Correctional Complex is located 21km west of Sydney’s central business district. The complex houses the:

Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre a maximum security institution for women and the major reception centre for female offenders in NSW.
Metropolitan Remand & Reception Centre (MRRC) a maximum security correctional facility for men
Dawn de Loas Correctional Centre Area 1 & 2 is a minimum security correctional centre for men

How to get there

Public Transport

The nearest railway station is Auburn station which is located approximately 4km from Siverwater Correctional Complex. The cost of a taxi from the station is approximately $15.
City Rail Information

Route 540, 542 & 544 buses operate from Auburn Station to the Silverwater Complex and takes approximately 18 minutes.

The Route 525 bus runs from Parramatta Station to the Complex and takes approximately 20 minutes.

Private Transport

From Sydney, there are two major routes to Mulawa. The first is via the Parramatta Road or the M4 Motorway. Turn off the M4 at the Silverwater exit, turn right and follow Silverwater Road towards Silverwater. Turn right at Holker Street and then turn left at the second set of traffic lights into the Silverwater Complex. When travelling from west of Mulawa, a toll is payable on the M4. To avoid paying the toll, use the Great Western Highway and turn off at the Silverwater exit. The approximate distance from Sydney CBD is 20km. From Penrith, it is 35km.

The second route from Sydney is via Victoria Road. Turn off at Ermington onto Silverwater Road. Follow Silverwater Road, turn left onto Holker Street, and turn left at the second set of traffic lights into the Silverwater Complex.

Parking facilities are provided inside the Silverwater complex. Staff at the boom-gate will provide directions to the Centre which is approximately 200 metres from the car park.
