Mid North Coast

Mid North Coast Correctional Centre is a medium and minimum security centre for males and females situated at Aldavilla, 455 km north of Sydney and 14 km west of Kempsey.

How to get there

Public Transport

The centre is located 14km from Kempsey and there is no public transport available. The centre operates a courtesy bus for scheduled weekend and holiday visits from designated pick up points in Kempsey.

Courtesy Bus Timetable:
Visitors transport will pick visitors up from and return them to:

  • Corner Middleton St & Pacific Highway 8:10am return 11:20am and 11:50am - 2:40pm
  • Kempsey Railway Station 8:20am return 11:30am and 12:00pm - 2:50pm
  • The Quarry Greenhills (Armidale Rd) 8:30am return 11:40am and 12:10pm - 3:00pm

Private Transport

If driving from Kempsey follow the signs to Armidale (Armidale Road) until you reach the turn off to the airport (Sherwood Road).

Take this turn and follow the road for 4 km and you reach a cross roads.

Turn left at the junction (Link Road) and follow the road down for approximately 800m and you will reach the main entrance to the centre on the left.

Car parking is available.

Visitor Information

Bookings:

Visits bookings will be taken from 10.00am to 12.00 Noon - Tuesday to Friday. Bookings can be made by calling (02) 6560-2780.

Visit Times:

You will need to arrive 30 mins prior to allow for procedural process.

Sessions are:

  • Sector 1 (Main): 9.00 – 11.00am or 12.30 – 2.30 pm. (1session / day)
  • Sector 2/3 (Minimum): 9.00 – 11.00am or 12.30 – 2.30 pm. (1session / day)
    OR 9.30am - 2.30pm (1day only).

All visitors are required to be inside before 10.00am.

Legal Visits can be booked through the Security Manager by telephoning (02) 6560 2700. Legal visits require minimum 24hr notice

  • Domestic Services and Grounds Maintenance

Education

Accredited course,s with nationally recognised qualifications, are made available to inmates at each correctional centre.

The Adult Education and Vocational Training Institute (AEVTI) provides literacy, numeracy and communications courses in all centres. Many centres also offer vocational courses such as Information Technology, Horticulture, Construction, Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft.

AEVTI contracts TAFE NSW and other providers to deliver courses in a range of vocational areas such as Hospitality, Business Skills, Building, Cleaning, Transport, Aboriginal Studies, Horticulture and various WorkCover licenses.

AEVTI also co-ordinates traineeships and offers support for distance education.

Each centre has a library giving inmates access to a range of fiction, non-fiction and reference books. Inmates can also login to a secure internal network called the Inmate Legal Portal which gives them access to material of a legal nature.

A full range of generalist programs is offered to inmates including Think First. Probation and Parole services are also offered on site.
