How to get there
Public Transport
CountryLink operates a rail and bus link. Private coaches also service Glen Innes.
Countrylink Information
Transport by bus from Glen Innes to the Correctional Centre is provided by the Centre. The bus leaves from the Glen Innes Tourist Information Centre at 07:30am and returns to the Glen Innes Tourist Information Centre after visits on weekends and Public Holidays.
Private Transport
The Glen Innes township is in the Northern Tablelands, 660km north of Sydney. The Correctional Centre is a work camp situated 45km from Glen Innes towards Grafton on the Gwydir Highway. There is ample parking at the visits centre.

Saturday, Sunday and most Public Holidays 8:30am - 3:00pm inclusive.
Conditions:
Food may be brought into the centre. There are three Barbeques available. Money may be brought in for use in drinks machine. The centre provides tea and coffee. Standard items for infant and child care may be brought in. Newspapers not available through the Centre may be brought in and given to inmates.
Legal Visits
Legal Practioners may visit on any day between 9:00am-3:00pm. Notification of intention to visit must be advised by telephoning the Centre.
Industries
Inmates are employed in the Centre's sawmill, in logging, community projects, the Centre kitchen, building and ground maintenance and as cleaners.
Education
Accredited courses, with nationally recognised qualifications, are made available to inmates at each correctional centre.
The Adult Education and Vocational Training Institute (AEVTI) provides literacy, numeracy and communications courses in all centres. Many centres also offer vocational courses such as Information Technology, Horticulture, Construction, Visual Arts and Contemporary Craft.
AEVTI contracts TAFE NSW and other providers to deliver courses in a range of vocational areas such as Hospitality, Business Skills, Building, Cleaning, Transport, Aboriginal Studies, Horticulture and various WorkCover licenses.
AEVTI also co-ordinates traineeships and offers support for distance education.
Each centre has a library giving inmates access to a range of fiction, non-fiction and reference books. Inmates can also login to a secure internal network called the Inmate Legal Portal which gives them access to material of a legal nature.
