2008-2009 Victims of Violent Crimes Grants Program - Grants Recipients

Funding for 2008-2009 has now been fully allocated. The following list represents a range of community agencies that were successfully granted funds either for projects or for the purchase of resources.

 Adults Surviving Child Abuse (ASCA) Illawarra  Writing workshops for women who are abused as children  To conduct a series of writing workshops and produce a booklet of participant’s work

 AIDS Council of NSW (ACON)  Anti-Violence Project Safety and Reporting Campaign  To develop a range of resources to provide information to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals who have been victims of violent crime

 Blacktown Women's and Girl's Health Centre  Innovative approaches to women, their children and young people’s experience of domestic violence - training workers  To develop a training resource to improve skills of worker to facilitate groupwork programs for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic violence.

 Blue Mountains Women’s Health Centre Inc  "Young Women, Safer Future"  To educate young women to become more aware of safe alcohol and drug-taking behaviours and raise community awareness.

 Disability Advocacy NSW Inc  Victims of Crime with a disability – advocate’s resource  To develop a presentation to provide accessible information about the rights of victims of violent crime to people with a disability in the Hunter/New England Region

 Immigrant Women’s Speakout Association of NSW  "Reclaim Self Esteem"  To conduct a quilt-making workshop for women who are victims of domestic violence to express their feelings and emotions through craft

 Lifeline Newcastle and Hunter  Crisis Intervention Response Services (CIRS)  To provide support, information and referral to victims of trauma as an early intervention strategy in partnership with local Police

 Linden Place Child & Adolescent Sexual Assault Service  "Keeping Children Safe” and “Ethical Sexual Relationships"  a) To run a community-based preventative program for parents and carers of young children to raise awareness of child abuse and develop skills to create a safe environment; and b) to run an educational program for adolescents and young people about personal development and relationships

 Tweed Shire Women’s Service Inc  Community Education - Resource development for women and children  To develop two distinct resources for women and children experiencing, at risk or have experienced domestic and family violence specific for the Tweed region.

 Victims of Crime Assistance League Inc NSW  Victims of Crime Survivors Manuel and Service Provider Resource Manual  To develop and print two resource manuals: one for survivors of violent crime and one for service providers who come into contact with victims of crime.
