Correctional Officer/Overseer Testing

Stage one testing (Cognitive ability testing)

Stage One Testing is a paper and pencil examination of approximately two hours, prepared for Corrective Services NSW by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). This test consists of numeracy, reading, comprehension and writing skills exercises. Applicants are asked to familiarise themselves with this type of testing by reading the Preparation Manual for Stage I Testing (pdf) and the advice on How to Write an Essay (pdf).

Stage two testing (Candidate suitability testing)

Based on performance in stage one testing, selected candidates will be invited to undertake further cognitive ability assessment and psychological profiling to determine suitability for a position as a Correctional Officer/Overseer.
